Do you need to create? A budding Monet or Frida Kahlo? Our Arts and Craft Clubs are packed with ways to let children explore art in a therapeutic environment. From exploring various art styles, our expert facilitators are artists themselves. Then what is a better way to learn? Each week we guide young people through a craft that at the end of the term can create a final showcase. This is not just showing all that they have learnt but also their journey through arts and crafts. See below for some images of just some of the wild creations we have made in our Moving Waves after-school clubs across London with Primary schools!
Lights! Positions! Razzle dazzle them in the most dramatic of ways. Musical Theatre is a fantastic way to explore the art of singing, dancing and acting. From learning famous musicals such as Oliver!, Annie, Lion King, Matilda and more! Even more, the confidence-building, teamwork and communication skills students take away from musical theatre often lead them to create their shows. I myself love my musical theatre clubs. You can usually find me on Friday afternoons making a musical about the things young people are interested in. In the past, we have made a show about pollution, bullying, and finding out what makes each person unique and special. I love to really platform the young people to share what they want to show back through singing, and making their scripts and dances. We often do a showcase for parents and see the group grow to become just like a theatre troupe. Individual growth is also really impactful! It’s a fantastic way to help shy students find their voice and more confident students learn about the power of collaboration!
Hola! Did you know that Spanish is one of the world's most commonly studied languages? For good reason too! Knowing an additional language is a massive bonus for young people to carry throughout their entire lives! In our Spanish after-school club we are all about learning while having a blast. From fun music, games, dance and more. Our Spanish club will not only help you learn your lingo but also help young people engage in personal and brain development. Woo hoo! Our Spanish facilitators are not only trained in the arts but also in Spanish so you can guarantee a perfect blend of learning with theatre!
Got some funny bones? Our Stand Up Comedy club will have students splitting their sides with laughter. Learn all about different ways of making people laugh, write scripts, and skits, develop physical comedy and more. Finish the club off with a devised skit, stand-up set and more. From our past clubs, we have made short films, comedy stand-up shows and more. It’s a fantastic way to spread some joy, and make the world a little happier. We love nothing more in our after-school clubs across London than having a big ol laugh!
Perhaps you want ALL the drama? Well, our drama after-school clubs are the place to be. Train with our team of facilitators who are all professionals in the arts. From directions, actors and producers. Receive some fantastic training in a fun environment. We love to reflect what young people are interested in. Devising is a wonderful way to bring people together and work on teamwork, communication and collaboration. We have devised shows based on The Great British Bake Off, Football tournaments and more!
And stretch! There is nothing that brings a sense of mindfulness, and calm and teaches young people vital skills such as breathing techniques while getting some gentle movement in like Yoga. Each Yoga class is designed with young people in mind and packed full of fun activities to teach young people the importance of checking in with yourself. In an ever-busy world, there is a skill in being mindful and here at Moving Waves
And that is not even all of what we offer! We do everything and anything. We believe that learning can be combined with fun and collaboration and we love to offer more such as!
