When I recall my own childhood, I always seem to remember long sunny summers, when it never rained! I have fond memories of fun-filled days that stretched into bright evenings. As a self-confessed theatre kid, I was always to be found in local Summer Camps, busily creating theatre, dancing and singing my younger self out! As a teacher specialising in the arts, I now look back and really appreciate how those Summer Camps helped shape my own growth – not just artistically but also socially and emotionally. During those halcyon days of summer, I made lifelong friendships, learnt so much about the Arts, had tons of fun and importantly developed self-confidence.
And it’s with that perspective in mind that I want to tell you all about the amazing week-long Summer Camp that we host here at Moving Waves in North London from 31st of July to the 3rd of August with a broad range of activities, including Drama, Dance, Musical Theatre and Crafts for children and teenagers aged 4 to 12. Until the 15th of June we are offering an early bird discount. As well we also offer a 10% sibling discount that can be added at any time.
As a parent, carer or guardian, you can go to work or take a well-earned break, secure in the knowledge that your child or teenager is in safe, expert hands and will return home after a fun-packed day with lots of stories, a song or perhaps a dance routine or two to liven up the dinner table! Creative activity is a brilliant way to keep children and young people engaged, stimulated, active and happy with no room for boredom to creep in.

Lights, camera, action! Do you have a budding, young thespian on your hands? At Moving Waves, we have experienced drama facilitators who will help develop their latent talent. Think of everything from mask work and performing scripts through to devising, learning about how the body moves as well as fun games to get everyone into a team spirit. For example, last Summer as the song goes, our students became Superheroes Just for One Day, equipped with their own amazing costumes, brand of magic and unique powers to save our beloved London. What’s on the cards this year? Well, it’s all down to the group’s imagination. Watch this space!
Does your child like to move? Do they have natural rhythm in their feet? Do they love music? Alternatively, perhaps they just have lots of energy! One of the best ways to not only have fun but put that energy to good use is through dance. Our academies in North London offer a variety of dance styles to engage your child or young person from street dance, ballet, contemporary and more. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to get their groove on and dance to the beat of their own drum. Trust me, our Summer Camp is the perfect dance introduction.

And of course, while music is the perfect companion to dance, it deserves a spotlight in its own right. Welcome to our musical theatre workshops, the perfect blend of singing, dance and drama! If your child has always fancied being Ariel from The Little Mermaid or Matilda and her friends, Musical Theatre is the perfect option. To give you a flavour, last year’s camp featured music from The Greatest Showman, Wicked, Six the Musical, Moana and The Lion King. With familiar songs, fun dance and acting out iconic characters, Musical Theatre is always a big hit at our Summer Camp. Book now – don’t be disappointed! This is an all-round class that the dancers, singers and young actors out there are absolutely going to adore. Belting out West End show tunes, learning choreography from the best musicals and reciting lines from the Broadway classics, what’s not to love?

We believe here at Moving Waves that everyone is an artist. Crafting offers a quiet, mediative way for your child or teenager to contact their inner artist and showcase their personality through art. It’s also just really fun! From painting, making masks, puppets and more, your child is free to make what their heart desires! These sessions are fantastic for helping children and young people experiment with different art techniques and media, while developing creativity and self-expression. We always use sustainable and recyclable materials for these sessions. I can't wait to see the fantastic crafts the kids create this summer! We are sure that you will have your fridge covered with some glorious artwork from our 2023 Summer camp!
